It serves as a thorough but practical introduction to the field of educational research. The examples, illustrations, charts, and figures in the book are especially on-point and understandable. The layout of the book supports learning through the inclusion of chapter introductions, marginal definitions and chapter summaries. The online resources included on the companion website are exceptional. I was fortunate to get to use the textbook for an online course; however, the book is so well-written that I believe it could serve as a standalone self-study guide for anyone who needs an introduction or a refresher to the field of educational research.
