The Science of False Memory (Oxford Psychology Series) ReviewThe book covers a great deal of research and many cases, and connects the dots in various ways. There is no denial of the existence of sexual or other abuse. I think it would be a dense read for people without a scientific background, but it isn't inaccessible, either. The language is readable and the authors manage to keep the content very interesting as they describe the research and events involved. You'll get a systematic understanding of how false memories are produced, and a good understanding as to what factors cause vulnerability. The book is broader than the title, though, with a lot of related information such as how experts, therapists, and law enforcement staff can become biased and contribute to jury bias, false confessions, and false memories. There is plenty of information about limits to creation and maintenance of false memories as well. This is hardly an ideologically-driven book as far as I can tell.The Science of False Memory (Oxford Psychology Series) Overview

True Witness: Cops, Courts, Science, and the Battle against Misidentification ReviewDoyle, a Boston-area attorney, writes concisely and eloquintly about the history of psychologists efforts to challenge the legal system's approach to eyewitness testimony and the responses by the justice system.
For almost 100 years, psychologists have been warning that the legal system's assumptions about eyewitnesses are flawed. Harvard professor Hugo Musterberg's first book on the subject written in 1908 prompted a vigorous backlash from Dean John Henry Wigmore, author of the widely used treatise on evidence. Since then, Musterberg and Wigmore's successors have struggled over the place of psychological research on perception and memory in the courtroom. Doyle's book traces that struggle, focusing on the major personalities, and on the cases of the wrongfully convicted. The primary focus is the psychologists, but jurists, prosecutors, defense attorneys, police officers, and politicians are all included.

It has provided excellent starting point. It even has a special section for different ethnicty/religion ie Jewish section, African American questions.
